From Advocacy to Celebration: SAARC Hosts ‘A Party for the People’ This Weekend
It’s going down tomorrow night! This week, Davida Ingram, the director of Seattle King County African-Americans Reparations Committee (SAARC), joined hosts Besa Gordon and Curtis Delgardo II, aka Cuddy, on Almost a Weekend! to discuss the committee's upcoming gala tomorrow and its ongoing work in reparations across the region.
After four years of progress, including the recent achievement of securing the first-ever Washington state reparations study, SAARC is finally celebrating with Reparations: A Party For The People Gala tomorrow, Saturday, November 8, at Washington Hall. The celebration will feature local R&B and hip-hop artists Black Stax and Rell Be Free. If that doesn’t sound like a party, I don’t know what does.

Ingram shared her vision for what racial repair in Seattle would look and feel like, noting that historical policies excluded Black people from middle-class investments. She pointed to the alarming racial wealth gap in King County, but shared her optimism in the progress that has and will continue to be made toward a more equitable society.
The SAARC’s Reparations: A Party For The People Gala is happening tomorrow, Saturday, November 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Washington Hall, 153 14th Ave, Seattle. Get your tickets at saarcpnw.org/reparations-a-party-for-the-people at a price point for you.
Don’t forget to tune in to Almost The Weekend! Thursdays at 9 p.m. on all Converge streaming platforms.
