Almost The Weekend: Seattle Vibes, R&B Energy, and a Legendary DJ
This week on Almost The Weekend delivered a packed lineup of music, culture, and community highlights across the Pacific Northwest. Hosts Besa Gordon and Curtis “Cuddy” Delgardo II kicked things off with the Weekend Warm-Up, spotlighting the can’t-miss events heating up the city.
This week’s picks included House of Vibes: The Mixtape Party at Chapel Lounge, a two-floor experience with four DJs presented by Blvck Diamond Events; Sneaky Link, DJ Blast’s 9th annual Kostume Party in Pioneer Square; and RHYTHM + FLOW, a yoga and house party pop-up created by Emily Dalgo at DRYP. The hosts also looked ahead to 4TheLovers Only, an upcoming R&B night at Vue Lounge on November 21st.
Besa’s event rundown continued with All Jam October at Palace Casino in Lakewood, presented by Platinum Entertainment and hosted by Platinum Mike with music from Seattle’s own DJ Kole. The night also featured food from Buddy’s Chicken & Waffles, keeping the energy high and the plates full. She also highlighted Elisha Michelle’s Cocktail Tasting in Tacoma, celebrating her new partnership with local Black-owned brand Zawadi Vodka.
Later in the episode, Almost The Weekend welcomed Seattle’s own DJ Supreme La Rock — a pioneer and international DJ whose career spans decades. From spinning records as a kid to DJing for the Seahawks during their Super Bowl victory parade, Supreme shared stories about longevity, creativity, and the connection between jazz and hip-hop. He reflected on performing around the world, the art of reading a crowd, and his passion for vinyl collecting — now over 100,000 records strong.
Supreme also previewed his upcoming performance at the 2025 Earshot Jazz Festival, where he will open for Mid Century Modern at the Georgetown Steam Plant. He described the show as a “musical adventure” blending timeless jazz with new sounds, encouraging attendees to experience Seattle’s deep jazz roots in a fresh way.
The episode closed with Besa and Cuddy sharing their personal weekend picks — Besa choosing the Halloween-themed Scope Screenings at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, and Cuddy opting for the RHYTHM + FLOW pop-up. The hosts also gave a birthday shoutout to City Beats co-host Tra’Renee, reminding viewers to take Metro when heading to events to avoid Seattle’s weekend traffic.
From local parties to international artistry, Episode 18 of Almost The Weekend celebrated the rhythm of the region — proving once again that when it comes to Seattle culture, this team always knows where the vibes are.
