Art, Wellness, and Community: Northwest Credible Messenger and The Re-Sole 206 Collaborate

The Re-Sole 206, Seattle's inaugural sneaker dry cleaner, recently hosted Northwest Credible Messenger (NWCM) youth for "Designing the Path,” a custom sneaker workshop. The Re-Sole 206 founder, Takiyah "T-DUB" Ward, whose state-of-the-art facility specializes in sneaker cleaning, restoration, and customizing, was all about sharing her knowledge with the next generation.

The collaboration came in the form of a creative wellness workshop, introducing youth to a new artistic outlet in sneaker customization. While The Resole’s work is niche, making a space to show people the possibilities and importance of artistic expression was vital. "I'm so happy to be able to share my expertise with the next generation,” Ward said.

As an organization focused on community behavioral health, healing, and violence prevention in Black and brown communities, NWCM leads with a vital mission aligned with The Re-Sole’s commitment to giving back. The organization focuses on equipping community leaders, such as barbers, beauticians, and other trusted figures, with behavioral health training and certifications, including Peer Support Counselor training to then utilize in uplifting underprivileged youth.

Lead Credible Messenger Luther Leonard said that NWCM’s strategic partnerships like The Re-Sole foster a sense of community among participants. He referred to the event as a "generational bridge" where people can freely create and express themselves with the cultural backbone of popular shoes.

Ward explained that the unique art of sneaker customizing allows people to make a name for themselves and find ways to process grief or trauma. She called the process "incredibly meditative" once someone is settled in their process. “You can zone out and forget the world and just make something beautiful while you do that,” she said about sneaker customization.

NWCM is no stranger to the Converge platform. Last year, cinematographer Paul Sanders covered the organization’s transformative three-day training program, equipping Credible Messengers to adequately address pressing issues facing underserved youth. Additionally, NWCM Executive Director Dr. Jason Clark appeared on “The Day With Trae” in November, 2025.

This story on NWCM and The Re-Sole exemplifies Back2Besa’s dedication to shedding light on organizations that give back. The show is all about showing people what is possible, and NWCM and The Re-Sole share in this mission, sharing skillsets in the name of community.
