Back2Besa with Besa Gordon: An Art-Filled Episode Celebrating Creativity Across the PNW

This week on Back2Besa, we’re tapping into creativity in a whole different way. From Seattle to Spokane, this episode is all about how art shows up in our communities — not just as something to look at, but something you feel, experience, and connect through.

We’re starting things off right here in Seattle, stepping inside the Subway Cypher installation in Occidental Square. This one is special because it brings Hip Hop culture to life — we’re talking graffiti, DJing, breakdancing, and storytelling all in one space. It’s not just an installation, it’s a full experience that honors 50 years of Hip Hop.

Then we’re heading east to Spokane for the Terrain Art Festival, where a historic warehouse gets completely transformed into a multi-level creative space. Hundreds of artists, different styles of expression, and a whole lot of community — this is one of those events where you can feel the energy the second you walk in.

Back in Seattle, we’re taking a look inside the Amazon Spheres, where the Art Brothers turned this already iconic space into something even more creative through their residency. It’s a reminder that art doesn’t have to live in traditional places — it can pop up anywhere and still make an impact.

We’re also revisiting a powerful mural here in Seattle with the Vivid Matter Collective — a piece that artists continue to return to and maintain, showing how art can evolve while still holding onto its message.

And then we head back to Spokane’s East Central neighborhood, where a community mural at the Carl Maxey Center tells the story of one of the Pacific Northwest’s oldest Black communities — honoring history, resilience, and legacy in a way that’s both visual and deeply meaningful.

To close things out, we’re tapping into Seattle’s film scene with Scope Screenings, where local filmmakers get the chance to showcase their work on the big screen and connect with the community in real time.

This episode is really about one thing — creativity. The way it brings people together, tells our stories, and reminds us that art is all around us, whether we realize it or not.

Make sure you tune in to Back2Besa this Saturday at 10:30 PM on FOX 13 Seattle, with replays Sunday at 10 AM and 8 PM on FOX 13+, or stream it anytime on the free FOX Local app.

Trust me… you’re going to want to tap into this one.
