Besa Gordon Talks Boon Boona Coffee’s Waterfront Grand Opening on Good Day Seattle

This week, Back2Besa host Besa Gordon stopped by Good Day Seattle, where she joined Lauren Donovan, who was filling in for Erin Mayovsky, to preview one of the show’s standout stories — the grand opening of Boon Boona Coffee on the waterfront.

During the segment, Gordon shared what it was like to be on-site at Boon Boona’s newest location at Overlook Walk at Waterfront Park, where community members showed up in full force despite cold, rainy weather. The turnout, she noted, spoke volumes about the connection people feel to the brand and its founder, Efrem Fesaha.

A preview clip from Back2Besa highlighted voices from the ribbon-cutting ceremony, emphasizing Boon Boona’s role as more than a coffee shop — but a gathering space rooted in belonging, culture, and community. In the clip, Fesaha reflected on the full-circle nature of opening a business on the waterfront, a place he first visited with his family after immigrating to Seattle as a child.

Gordon also shared that she has followed Boon Boona’s journey for years, making this particular opening especially meaningful. Located near Pike Place Market, the new café serves as a welcoming entry point for visitors and locals alike — and a visible example of what’s possible when a small business is supported by community.

Before wrapping up the Good Day segment, Gordon previewed what viewers can expect on the upcoming episode of Back2Besa, including more youth mental health conversations, a birthday celebration honoring Darryl “DQ” Glover, a rewind to Reign of Style, a night at the Central District Art Walk, and the full Boon Boona waterfront grand opening.

Back2Besa airs Saturdays at 10:30 PM on FOX 13 Seattle, with replays Sunday at 10 AM and 8 PM on FOX 13+, and streams anytime on the FOX Local app.
