Besa Gordon Talks Northwest Credible Messenger and The Re-Sole 206 on Good Day Seattle

Besa Gordon recently joined Good Day Seattle to spotlight the impactful work of Northwest Credible Messenger, a Federal Way–based organization dedicated to supporting youth, young adults, and community members through mentorship, behavioral health, and community-centered programming.

The conversation centered on a creative wellness workshop Northwest Credible Messenger hosted in partnership with The Re-Sole 206, Seattle’s first sneaker dry cleaners. Rather than a traditional classroom-style setting, the workshop brought together youth and young adults for an experience rooted in creativity, connection, and healing.

Held inside Re-Sole 206’s Central District space, the workshop used sneaker customization as a meditative and expressive tool. Participants worked on culturally relevant shoes like Air Force 1s, transforming them into personal works of art while reconnecting with mentors and peers. The goal was to slow down, find focus, and create space to process emotions in a supportive environment.

Gordon highlighted why creativity plays such an important role in wellness, noting how art can help people reset, recenter, and regain a sense of control during difficult moments. In this case, participants weren’t just decorating sneakers; they were creating something tangible they could take pride in and say, “I did this myself.”

The conversation also emphasized what sets Northwest Credible Messenger apart. Beyond youth programming, the organization takes a holistic, community-wide approach to care. From supporting young people with resources like driver’s education, food, clothing, and school support, to serving adults through initiatives like their barbershop and beauty shop behavioral health program, Northwest Credible Messenger meets people where they are with care and connection.

The workshop reflected why Northwest Credible Messenger’s work continues to resonate across the region. It’s not just about a single program or event, but about building relationships, restoring trust, and creating spaces that genuinely feel good for the people inside them.
