"Breathing Black Love" Series Focuses on Love in Upcoming Session

Earlier this week on a  "Magnificent Monday" episode of "The Day with Trae," host Trae Holiday welcomed back Heru to discuss the ongoing "Breathing Black Love" series at WOW Gallery. Heru shared updates on the series, highlighting its focus on healing and personal transformation.

The "Breathing Black Love" series, now in its eighth week, aims to help individuals reclaim their ancestral breath and integrate five essential heart qualities: trust, openness, love, gratitude, and respect for all. These concepts are rooted in the Renus system of Qigong, a practice that combines movement, breathwork, and meditation. Heru explained, "It's really about focusing on reclaiming the ancestral breath. Learning or relearning, remembering how to breathe correctly in order to, you know, resolve health issues, resolve emotional issues, provide some stability with people so they can really integrate these five essential heart qualities in their life."

Heru's personal journey of healing inspired him to share these practices with the community. He noted the lack of accessible healing modalities for Black people and praised WOW Gallery for providing a platform. "WOW Gallery really opened the doors for a beautiful facility... to be able to do healing from the center of Seattle and let that spread out is a beautiful place to be," Heru stated. The series is donation-based, ensuring accessibility for all.

The upcoming session this Saturday, August 30th, will delve into the essential heart quality of love. Heru explained that participants will "be moving into love, which you know, we all need more love, and really integrating the concept of love, learning more what love is and diving deep into how to remove the walls or the resistance to loving yourself, to accepting love and things like that." The sessions include moving Qigong, breathwork, and deep meditation practices, leading to what Heru described as "revolutionary breakthroughs" for attendees dealing with various challenges.

The program has expanded to a hybrid model, allowing individuals worldwide to participate via Zoom. Heru highlighted the global reach, mentioning attendees from South Africa and the Midwest. He emphasized the importance of removing barriers to healing: "The paywall is not there. The access should not be an issue. The only excuse is an excuse that you make and typically that's a pattern."
