Converge Media and the Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention Present: Together We End Gun Violence Week on The Pop-Up!

This week on The Pop-Up!, Converge Media is partnering with the King County Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention (ROGVP) to launch "Together We End Gun Violence Week," a full week of programming marking the beginning of National Gun Violence Awareness Month this June. 

Throughout the week, The Pop-Up! will feature five episodes focused on gun violence prevention and community resources available to King County residents. Expect to hear directly from survivors honoring their loved ones through action, leaders discussing a public health approach to gun violence, community-based public safety experts, harm reduction specialists, advocacy partners driving policy, and youth voices.

The Weekly Lineup: Topics and Guests

  • Monday, June 1: Survivors Take Action

    • The show will feature Jenine Lewis, mother of Elijah L. Lewis, and Lonnisha Landry, Founder of Just Us/Loved Ones.

  • Tuesday, June 2: What Does it Mean to Take a Public Health Approach to Gun Violence?

    • Guests include the Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention Team: Director Eleuthera Lisch, Communications Lead Ariana Donaville, and Community Engagement Specialist Deaunte Damper.

  • Wednesday, June 3: Leveraging Lived Experience to Strengthen Public Safety

    • The discussion will feature Progress Pushers Founder & Executive Director Eddie Purpose and Freedom Project Executive Director Marvin Marshall.

  • Thursday, June 4: Harm Reduction Resources: Emergency Protection Orders & Safe Storage

    • This episode will host Public Health – Seattle & King County Lock It Up Program Manager Karyn Brownson and King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kimberly Wyatt.

  • Friday, June 5: Importance of Advocacy in Driving Change & Young People in Advocacy Work

    • The show will welcome Alliance for Gun Responsibility Communications Director Gregory Joseph and ROGVP’s Youth Ambassadors for Change Participants Joshua Wheeldon and Melodie Slaughter.

Each episode builds toward the Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention's 6th Annual National Gun Violence Awareness Day Gun Lockbox Giveaway on Friday, June 5. On that day, the Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention, the Alliance for Gun Responsibility, community and municipal partners across King County will host free gun lockbox giveaways at seven locations.
