Koach Giggz Talks His Emmy-Award-Winning Intro and Recent Relocation

In an episode of "We Live in Color” in June 2025, host Deaunte Damper welcomed back Koach Giggz, an Emmy-award-winning choreographer, for a candid conversation about major life changes, artistic achievements, and the necessity of community.

Giggz, who recently relocated to Oklahoma City, shared insights into the bittersweet experience of closing a significant chapter in Seattle. The decision to move was primarily driven by a desire to provide a safer environment for his son, away from the rising violence affecting teenagers in Seattle.

"I just could not have my kid on a t-shirt unless it was for graduation," Giggz stated, explaining the irrefutable sacrifices made for his family.

The choreographer also touched on the challenges and triumphs of starting anew. Known for being, in the word of Damper, a resource magnet in Seattle, found that building a new network in Oklahoma, while initially daunting, proved surprisingly natural.

"Oklahoma is loving me in a way that is doing their job to fill what I thought was going to be a void by leaving Seattle," he said.

Damper asked Giggz about the choreographer’s return to school. Joking about the difficulty of juggling studies, parenting, entrepreneurship, and a full-time job.

"School is not for the weak,” he said, explaining his personal experience in higher education fostered a deeper empathy for students and highlighted the importance of holding children to a level of excellence appropriate for their individual capabilities.

In June, Giggz won an Emmy for his choreography in the intro for Converge’s longstanding show, “The Day With Trae.” He recounted the exhilarating moment of receiving the call from host Trae Holiday about the initial nomination with joy and pride.

"Everything I choreograph, I choreograph on the spot," Giggz revealed, a testament to their innate talent. The impact of the Emmy win resonated beyond Seattle, with recognition from his church and workplace in Oklahoma helping fuel his new chapter.

Giggz expressed profound gratitude for Damper’s unwavering support over the years. "I would not be where I'm at today, right now, if it wasn't for our friendship and our relationship," Giggz said.
