Mark TellsYa Drops Gems on Free Events, Solo Travel, and Late-Night Seattle on Almost The Weekend
When Mark TellsYa shows up, you know you’re getting more than just a list of events — you’re getting insider vibes, underrated spots, and a few laughs along the way.
On the latest episode of Almost The Weekend, hosted by Besa Gordon and Curtis Delgardo II , Mark TellsYa joined the show in person to break down where to go and what to do — from Fremont to Bellevue to Capitol Hill — and why sometimes the best plans are the ones you make solo.
“When you do solo trips, there’s no plans, no organization,” Mark said. “It’s just you in your own space, in your own head. You can meditate, take notes, write, eat whatever you want… I love that.”
Fresh off a recent trip to Hawaii, Mark reflected on the joys of eating spam musubi guilt-free, exploring alone, and soaking in every moment without an itinerary. But back in Seattle, he was ready to get folks tapped into the weekend — and everything on his list had one thing in common: free entry.
“Fremont Friday — three stages, food, art, fashion, music… and best of all, it’s FREE,” he emphasized. “They always pick the best vendors. I don’t know if they know I’m coming or what, but the food is always on point.”
He also shouted out La Nueva Era, a Latin music night in Bellevue, and plugged DJ Kim Lee’s upcoming set at VICE in Capitol Hill. According to Mark, Seattle’s nightlife doesn’t stop when the music ends — especially if you know where to walk it off.
“After the party, take a walk through Bellevue Park. It’s underrated. The lights are out, and it’s safe. That’s a Mark TellsYa secret.”
Between pro tips and playful banter about paddle boarding mishaps, Voodoo Donuts, and Capitol Hill parking struggles, Mark and Besa kept the conversation moving and full of laughs. Whether you're new to the city or a local looking for new energy, this is the kind of weekend prep you’ll want to replay.
