VISTA Productions: Oblé Reed Takes the Groundwaves Stage in Chicago
From the Pacific Northwest to the Midwest, Seattle-born alternative hip hop artist Oblé Reed made his Chicago debut as part of the Groundwaves open mic and mentorship program in October. Omi Salisbury of VISTA Productions captured Reed’s set, where he performed some of his popular tracks like "SKYISFALLING,” and "CIRCLE THEORY,” all while perpetuating his values of community-building and self-care.
Producer and all around creative Omi Salisbury, who got his start in Seattle, brought this story to life with his creative partner Victor Grisson as VISTA Productions. Like Reed, Omi’s out in Chicago representing the Emerald City!
Addressing emotional stress on stage through his music and crowdbanter, Reed encouraged his fans to prioritize self-care routines like journaling or meditation. He made it clear that as an entertainer, he’s all about creating community through music, even prompting the Chicago crowd to connect with strangers and create secret handshakes. The Seattle rapper ultimately left the audience with a powerful reminder to care for themselves and extend human connection.
