2021 in Review: Taking B(l)ack Pride -Uplifting the Voice of Seattle’s Black Trans Community

Looking back, I just remember it was so hot that day, well over 100 degrees, and with nothing more than my trusty iPhone and a whole lot of bottled water I crisscrossed Jimi Hendrix Park in the Central District for over 10 hours trying to figure out the story. Taking B(l)ack Pride had gone from a small event centered around Seattle’s Black Trans and Queer community to sparking national headlines and countless death threats against the organizers and attendees.

Enrollment at Maritime High School Begins in January for 2022-23 SY

DES MOINES, Wash. (December 13, 2021): Maritime High School, a public school for students with maritime interests, will open applications to incoming ninth and tenth graders for the 2022-23 school year. Enrollment opens on January 3 and concludes on January 31, 2022. While the school is part of the Highline Public School District, students do not need to live within district boundaries. Maritime High School admission is open to all students in Washington state.

Seattle – Métier Brewing Company (MBC), Washington’s purpose-driven Black-owned craft brewery, will open a new taproom in Seattle’s Central District, as part of the company’s vision to build and foster community beyond its original Woodinville location. The new space, located at 2616 East Cherry Street, is slated to open February 2022, and will feature MBC’s award-winning beers alongside Japanese street food by Umami Kushi.
