Sounders end 2022 season with draw against Earthquakes
The Seattle Sounders closed out their disappointing 2022 campaign with a 2-2 draw against the lowly San Jose Earthquakes, a meh result to a meh season after the incredible high of the CCL Victory
PHOTOS: SR 520 Bridge March and Candlelight Vigil Held in Seattle’s Third Straight Protest for Iran
Protestors and community organizers took to the streets for a third straight week in Seattle, this time forming a human chain along the SR 520 bridge. Hundreds assembled at the University and Montlake neighborhoods, marching the near 1.4-mile span of the bridge as they continued to decry the death of Mahsa Amini and treatment of women in Iran.

August 20, 2022— The Williams Project and LANGSTON join forces to present Seattle’s first ever professional production of James Baldwin’s The Amen Corner, directed by Reggie D. White. The Amen Corner will run from October 29–November 20 at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. Opening night is November 3.
Five years after wowing audiences and critics with its stripped-down version of Baldwin’s Blues for Mister Charlie, The Williams Project returns with Baldwin’s best-known work.
A truly “chaotic” Wild Card series in Toronto sends the Mariners to the ALDS
While our Mariners were on the road in the AL Wild Card series against the Toronto Blue Jays, photographer Liv Lyons and writer Charles Hamaker were on site at the watch parties for the games at T-Mobile Park to document the emotion of Mariners fans as their team won it’s first playoff series in 21-years.
The Roundup: Garfield Continues Undefeated Season
Garfield continued their undefeated season last week by beating Ballard 55-6. The whole team got in on the action with EJ Caminong, one of the best quarterbacks in the state, leading the bulldogs with 3 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing (for the season he has 1,135 yards passing 11 TDs and 0 int). The standout for this game though was Reylen Witherspoon. The freshman had 11 carries for 111 yards and 2 TDs. The battle of the unbeaten is tonight as the Garfield bulldogs take on the Eastside Catholic at memorial stadium 7:45 pm.
Finding Go set to screen at Scope Screenings on Tuesday, October 11th

Black Coffee NW Perseveres Despite Challenges
Black Coffee NW on Aurora Avenue in Shoreline is more than a place to get an espresso or a latte for a commute to work.
Owners Erwin and Darnesha Weary say it is a place for people to come together, in spite of the many acts of racism and vandalism the shop has endured since it opened two years ago.
Their coffee shop was attacked, again, at the end of September.
“Black Coffee NW is really about community,” said Erwin, the company’s CEO. “It's about togetherness. it's about creativity. It's about inspiring us and other people to do better.”
Abraham Toro continues his great doubleheader as Mariners take game two against Detroit
In game two of their doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers, the Seattle Mariners used unique offense and a solid day by their bullpen to complete a doubleheader sweep. The win is Seattle’s 89th of the season. During the game, the Mariners found out they will be headed to Toronto for their first postseason series in 21 years.

The Round Up: Rainier Beach beats Roosevelt 42-7
Coach Corey Sampson had his team firing on all cylinders as the Rainier Beach Vikings beat Roosevelt. Tre’Scott Humphrey had great runs out the backfield and ended up with 2 rushing touchdowns, but my game ball goes to the freshman Oteko Mwamba (#44), who had a long touchdown reception and an interception in the game.

PHOTOS: Protest for Mahsa Amini & Women’s Rights in Iran
Seattle took to the streets for the second consecutive week to decry the death of Mahsa Amini in Tehran, Iran. According to witnesses, Amini, 22, fell into a coma on September 14 after being severely beaten by Iran’s morality police for having improperly worn her hijab, which is regarded as a strict violation of the government’s ordinance. She died two days later from cerebral hemorrhaging and a stroke.

Kraken dominate Canucks to remain undefeated in preseason
