The Seattle Kraken fell to the Colorado Avalanche in the their home opener, scoring the opening goal in the first period only to allow a rough second period to set the tone of this game for the rest of the night. The Kraken continue to struggle on the powerplay and scoring the puck, hurting the rest of their game.

Last week, Back2Besa host Besa Gordon headed over to Climate Pledge Arena for the Seattle Kraken’s annual food and beverage sneak peak. She checked in with Executive Chef Molly de Mers and her team to see what fans can expect as the Kraken get set for their home opener tonight.

Nationally acclaimed Jazz vocalist Eugenie Jones performed last weekend here in Seattle at the Fountainhead Gallery. Jones and her quartet played for an audience of Jazz lovers, showcasing the talents which have made her an Earshot Jazz Vocalist and the Year Award recipient while also being the first-ever vocal recording artist to receive the Earshot Jazz Recording of the Year Golden Ear Award.

Back2Besa headed to the ‘Happiest Place On Earth’ for a special holiday preview. Host Besa Gordon was at Disney Land’s Holiday Preview event in Anaheim, where she hosted a live radio broadcast on HITS 106.1 and learned all about what they have in store for the holiday season.

The Seattle People’s Budget hosted their voting kickoff event on Friday, showcasing the ballot proposals which have been put together by community members over the course of the process. Featuring music, information and more, those interested in learning about the proposals came out to Washington Hall to meet some of the those involved with the dispersal of $27 million worth of community funds.

Besa Gordon stopped by Simply Seattle and received the VIP treatment ahead of the Rain City Classic at Climate Pledge Arena featuring the Clippers and the Utah Jazz. She spoke with Matthew Chichester as he showed her some signature sonics pieces and helped her get her fit together for the game.

The Seattle Kraken continue to display positive signs despite a winless three-game road trip to open up their 2023-24 season, and we’ll talk about that plus more in the good, bad, and ugly from the teams road loss to the St. Louis Blues on October 14th, 2023.

The Seattle Kraken secured their first standings point of the 2023-24 season, but once again the team played like they had earned a full victory. Seattle fell in a shootout to the St. Louis Blues, as the Kraken were unable to put home a second goal during regulation.

It was a reunion in Tacoma as Evergreen State College’s Tacoma Campus hosted their homecoming event last weekend. The school welcomed back campus founder Maxine Mimms, former head Dr. Joye Hardiman, and current dean Dr. Marcia Tate Arunga.

As part of #Back2Besa’s Hispanic Heritage Month feature during the month of September, producer Cesar Canizales traveled to El Salvador to show us the people and culture of his home country. While there, he visited numerous sites including the archeological ruins of the Pipil people, the volcano of Santa Ana, and even shows us a national favorite food - the Pupusa.

Seattle innovators and business owners gathered at Imperia in Lake Union for the eighth annual Impact Pitch Competition. Hosted by Business Impact NW, the event allows entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas and companies to a panel of experts and ultimately compete for grants.

Seattle artist Lakema Bell’s one woman show Tell It Like It ’TIS’ took place at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center last weekend, taking audience members on a heartfelt journey through her reawakening.
