Central District Art Walk Marks Two Years of Preserving Seattle’s Black Culture
Seattle's historic Central District neighborhood recently celebrated the two-year anniversary of the Central District Art Walk, which brought community members, local artists, and Black-owned businesses together. Happening every First Friday of the month, the event transformed local storefronts and neighborhood spaces into a lively open-air market showcasing art, music, performance, and food.
For singer, songwriter, and community advocate Ariyah Jané, the Central District Art Walk is a space for cultural preservation and artistic expression. Local establishments, including 23rd Ave Brewery, opened their doors to foster welcoming environments for conversation, networking, and celebration, surrounded by local Black art.
As the Central District Art Walk enters its third year, attendee Donté Reed hoped to see similar energy and community togetherness expand across the city. The Art Walk remains an ongoing invitation for Seattleites and visitors to experience the culture and history of Seattle's Central District.
The next Central District Art Walk is happening Friday, November 6th from 6-9 p.m. and every First Friday of the month year round. Learn more at www.seattleartwalks.com/centraldistrict.
