If Hip Hop Moves Green, The World Will Follow: Keith Tuckers Vision for the 10th Element

Hip Hop is Green celebrated health and wellness on Cherry Street last year with an event aimed at re-weaponizing hip hop culture to benefit the environment. The organization's mission focuses on promoting planetary sustainability, healthy eating, positive communication, and shared spaces. This event, distinct from a typical block party, specifically uplifted the health of young people and their families, particularly those in underserved and food-desert areas.

Founder Keith Tucker summarizes the organization’s perspective with the declaration: "If hip hop moves in a green direction, the world will move in a green direction". This vision commits the culture to environmentalism, health and wellness, animal rights, sobriety, mental health, and self-love. Hip Hop is Green leverages the inherent power of hip hop as a platform to amplify the voices of the unheard and serve the communities from which the genre originated.

The event highlighted hip hop's ability to shine light on communities hidden in the shadows, sharing important messages and providing tangible help to young people. Tucker and his team engage directly with youth and schools, using online platforms to discuss critical issues with major impact on the planet. They implement tangible community programs, aiming to "plant seeds in youth minds all around the world" and direct the genre's energy toward positive change.
