MUVA: A Visionary Space for Mother Artists in Seattle

Jonarra Swanson is the founder and visionary behind MUVA, a unique space in Seattle's Columbia Tower dedicated to empowering mothers who are also artists. Inspired by a childhood term for a powerful person, Swanson created MUVA to tackle the specific challenges she faced as a single mother navigating the art world.

Swanson’s goal was to build a supportive community where mothers could passionately pursue their creative work without having to sacrifice family time. Opened last year, MUVA is a movement that fosters connections, provides affordable workspace, and helps mother artists monetize their talents.

MUVA is a hub that celebrates the beautiful intersection of motherhood and artistry, offering a family-friendly environment where children are not just tolerated, but welcomed. Swanson champions the belief that investing in women is an investment that benefits the entire community, as mothers often reinvest their success locally.
