Portland Proclaims November 30th 'DJ OG ONE Day' Honoring Legendary DJ and Community Leader
Back2Besa and FOX 13 Seattle were honored to be present in the Rose City when the Portland City Council proclaimed November 30th as "DJ OG ONE Day," honoring the legendary David Jackson for his 33 years of leadership and dedication to the Pacific Northwest.
As the master teacher and sonic architect of the Moda Center, Jackson has spent 19 seasons as the official DJ for the Portland Trail Blazers, using his platform to curate the city's energy and bridge the gap between professional sports and local hip-hop culture. This recognition adds to his status as a community pillar who has consistently put people over profit throughout his storied career.
Beyond the turntables, Jackson’s legacy is defined by his commitment to mentorship and his resilience in the face of adversity. After triumphing over Stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2017, he developed the "BE F.L.U.I.D." framework—standing for Faith, Love, Unwavering, Intentional, and Determined—which serves as the foundation for his Leadertainment platform.
Through this initiative and his role as co-founder of PDX Hip Hop Week, DJ OG ONE has worked tirelessly to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs and creatives while ensuring that Black culture is respected and celebrated within the halls of government.
For the team at Converge Media, this milestone is deeply personal, as Jackson played a pivotal role in opening doors for the organization when it first expanded into the Rose City six years ago. His selflessness and vision as a bridge builder have been instrumental in highlighting the greatness of the community across the Pacific Northwest.
As Portland looks forward to celebrating this day annually, the proclamation honors a man who has dedicated his life to serving his people and building a lasting legacy of excellence.
Congratulations, O.G. ONE! Converge is honored to celebrate your legacy.
