Progress Pushers Combats Gun Violence and Empowers Youth in Seattle and King County
Progress Pushers, a non-profit organization operating across Seattle and King County, hosted a backpack giveaway in Seattle’s Alki neighborhood in 2024. Led by founder Eddie Purpose, Progress Pushers actively works to address the public health crisis of gun violence and foster opportunities for young people. To counter this, Progress Pushers offers a range of services, including support, community outreach, and critical youth empowerment initiatives, all committed to providing families with the resources necessary to keep children safe and build a more equitable future.
Purpose underscored the simplicity and gravity of this focus, sharing his commitment to basic safety. "We want you, at least, to be safe. Practice safety at the least,” he said, explaining the organization’s commitment to promoting gun safety through practical means, such as its gun lockbox distribution program.
In addition to safety initiatives, Progress Pushers connects young people with positive role models, opportunities, and resources. Purpose highlighted the organization's proactive approach. This work is having a measurable impact on the community, helping to save lives and build a more resilient future.
