TS Madison Hosts a Roaring Success: Celebrating Black Trans Resilience in Seattle
The Lavender Rights Project's annual Black Trans Comedy Showcase, held at the SIFF Cinema Egyptian on June 8, 2024 was a celebration of Black trans excellence, a statement of resilience, and a showcase of the unwavering spirit of the Black trans community.
Hosted by TS Madison, the showcase featured sharp, insightful, and hilarious performances by talented comedians Mx. Dahlia Belle, Quei Tann, and Sunkee Angel. The audience was treated to an evening of laughter, community, and empowerment, with TS Madison's infectious energy keeping the crowd roaring all night long. Deatune Damper, host of “We Live In Color,” was also in attendance and interviewed TS Madison before the show, discussing the importance of inclusion and resilience in the trans community.
The Lavender Rights Project is a Black-led, trans-led, queer-led organization that works to uplift and empower the Black intersex and gender diverse community in Seattle through community organizing, advocacy, education, and storytelling. The Black Trans Comedy Showcase is just one of the many ways that the organization is working to create a more just and equitable world for all.
