The organization’s fifth-anniversary gala, A Night’s Journey, brought together more than 350 community leaders, members, and supporters for an unforgettable night of reflection, joy, and visioning for the road ahead. 

In a healthcare landscape often criticized for its top-down approaches and systemic inequities, a groundbreaking new model is emerging from the heart of South Seattle. The Tubman Center for Health & Freedom has officially unveiled its Relational Medicine Model (RMM), a revolutionary healthcare system co-created over five years with Black, Brown, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized communities.

New data from the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office reveals a significant and sustained multi-quarter drop in gun violence, with firearm homicides and injuries reaching a five-year low in the second quarter of 2025. This positive trend, which began in 2024 and continued into the first quarter of 2025, is being attributed to a collaborative approach involving law enforcement and community-based organizations.

CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer Dr. Amy Xie emphasized the importance of preparing for the upcoming "respiratory season" through proactive measures. "The best way to protect ourselves is to prepare our immune systems with vaccines," she advised, urging the public to stay up-to-date on flu, COVID-19, whooping cough, and RSV vaccinations.

In a powerful interview, Dr. Sabine Thomas, the executive director of J'Soul Studios, shared her vision for supporting the parent-child relationship and the vital role of grandparents. As a naturopathic physician, Dr. Thomas has a deep understanding of the importance of secure attachment in a child's early development.

In November 2023, Washington became one of the first states to open its health insurance marketplace to all residents, including undocumented immigrants. Everyone who lives in Washington state now has the opportunity to buy health and dental insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder, regardless of immigration status.
