Black Artists You Should Know: Pen Cayetano
I was first introduced to the art of Mr. Pen Cayetano in preparation for our trip to Belize in November of last year. I wasn't familiar with much of the country prior to that, and sad to say had no interest in visiting to speak of. I can't even begin to describe how differently I feel about that country since that visit!
City of Seattle will distribute meals to children at nearly 50 sites across the city starting Monday, September 12
Starting Monday, September 12, the City of Seattle will distribute meals for students daily while the start to the school year remains delayed.
The City of Seattle is partnering with PTSAs and community groups across the city to sign up volunteers to hand out meals prepared by the Seattle Public Schools' culinary services team. The City previously announced that it would open eight recreation drop-in sites for school-age students starting Monday.
Mariners avoid late disaster, walk off Braves to take series
The Seattle Mariners took two of three games against the Atlanta Braves, thanks to an 8-7 victory in their Sunday rubber match. The Mariners got more great pitching, and were powered by four homers split between Julio Rodriguez and Eugenio Suarez.

City to provide recreation drop-in centers for school-age children in response to teachers strike and delayed school start
Seattle (September 7) – The City of Seattle is providing a range of services to support parents and families in response to Tuesday’s announcement from Seattle Public Schools (SPS) that the start to the 2022-2023 school year will be delayed. Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR), in partnership with the Associated Recreation Council (ARC) will offer Recreation Activity Hubs at eight designated community centers starting on Monday, September 12. Students in kindergarten through sixth grade will have access to free recreational programs and activities, and families will be able to register online starting Thursday, September 8.

Finding Go: Converge Media premieres latest film at UNC Charlotte
Finding Go: The Legacy of Broderick Adé Hogue premiered on Thursday evening at the convocation event for the UNC Charlotte College of Arts and Architecture. The film honors the inspirational life of designer Adé Hogue, a groundbreaking letterer and graphic designer who was a featured designer in Converge’s film about Alaska Airlines’ Our Commitment aircraft last summer. Hogue created the lettering which adorns the side of the airplane, adding a striking message to a beautiful design.
