The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, the Port of Seattle, and King County announced today that seven community organizations will serve local small businesses through the Community Business Connector (CBC) program.

These organizations, identified as Connectors, will serve small businesses in five geographic hubs in King County through a targeted outreach program. Connectors will provide access to available business resources to help them sustain and grow their enterprises. A review panel selected the Connector finalists following a competitive application process.

Local artist Damon Brown continues to push himself creatively and impact his community through art. His latest project is centered around installations at the Odessa Brown Children’s Hospital Clinic at Othello. For this work, he moved out of his comfort zone and stepped into the world of sculpture, scaling his work into what he hopes will be a monument for the community.

Seattle is embracing its multi-generation legacy as a live music destination with Cloudbreak, Seattle’s ReviveLive Music Fest, a new festival running from Nov. 3-23, 2022. The one-time festival is produced in partnership by Seattle’s destination marketing organization, Visit Seattle, and King County. Cloudbreak will invite visitors and locals to experience Seattle’s live music as venues once again host concerts after the COVID-19 pandemic caused many venues to shutter their doors temporarily.

On Friday afternoon the Round Up team met down at Memorial stadium for the Friday night lights game of week. The highly anticipated match up between the undefeated Garfield Bulldogs and the undefeated Eastside Catholic Crusaders got under way at 7:45 pm. The first half of the game was a true battle with the two schools showcasing just how good their defenses can be. Stand out players on Garfield’s defense include # 9 Micheal Montgomery and #26 Mister Beaver and #16 Henry Smidt. Quarterback EJ Caminong found Wide Receiver #1 Jamaica Myres on a drive that led to Garfield putting up 7 points.

KING 5’s Joyce Taylor will talk with Essex about his illustrious career, the state of the local journalism industry, what the future holds for Black journalists and media, and other pieces of wisdom he’s gained during his time in the media business. I’ve been seeing some really powerful photos and videos from the Iran Protests, so yesterday I took some time to educate myself on what’s happening over in Iran. I was SHOCKED to find out a beautiful woman by the name of #MahsaAmini died in a hospital in Tehran Iran after being taken into custody by Guidance Patrol for wearing her hijab too loosely which allowed for some of her hair to show.

Hundreds of people gathered in Seattle on Friday to condemn the Iranian government’s crackdown on protesters in that country in the aftermath of the death of a young woman who was killed while in police custody.

Dozens of protesters there have been killed or arrested.

The protests in Iran began after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was arrested by Iran’s morality police for allegedly violating the Islamic country’s strict dress code for head coverings. She died a few days after being detained.
