Garfield Super Block Academy announces Public Art Workshops
The Garfield Super Block will be releasing a call in the Spring of 2023 to hire seven artists to create permanent artworks for the GSB. These artworks will celebrate the seven cultural communities that made the Central Area what it is today; Duwamish, African American, Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, Italian and Jewish. In preparation for the launch of the call, the GSB is holding a public art academy to demystify the public art process. Award-Winning Author Cindi Bright’s show ‘Heartbeat: Prosperity for Black America’ debuted on the Converge Media Network on Wednesday night. Bright began the show in 2018, and since then has built a brand which now takes its next step into the broadcast realm.
“Heartbeat exists because we talk regularly about topics which impact Black Americans,” Bright said. “We talk about issues like housing, healthcare, the workplace and more.”
