As the team celebrated their Salute to the Negro Leagues, the Seattle Steelheads fell to the Chicago White Sox in game two of their series, sending this to tomorrow’s rubber match. Seattle was unable to take the win in extra innings, failing to get the tying run across to keep the game going.

For the first time in their City Connect jerseys, the Seattle Mariners were victorious as the team took the first game of the series against the Chicago White Sox with a strong outing from Bryan Woo and some late offense down the final few innings of the game.

The Seattle Mariners failed to complete a sweep of the Miami Marlins, as the bats cooled down to a chill and starting pitcher Luis Castillo didn’t have complete control of his fastball in the loss. While Castillo only allowed two runs and the game was within reach, Seattle’s offense couldn’t produce enough.

For the third consecutive year, the Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) will provide millions in relief to support and retain child care workers. Funded by the Payroll Expense Tax, up to $5.3 million–the City’s largest direct payment investment to date–is projected to reach approximately 4,500 child care workers across the city. With Penn Murfee re-aggravating an injury to his throwing elbow, the Seattle Mariners were in need of another reliever to get in their bullpen. With other injuries already plaguing the pitching staff, Seattle called up AA pitcher Ty Adcock, who’s had a wild and wacky ride to this point in his career.

Hosted by the Lavender Rights Project, the event featured some spectacular Black Trans comics and brought the good vibes all night long. John Houston continues his quest for reparations from the Renton School District.

“In 1953, the year I was born, is when they bought this land. I came home from the hospital to that land. That’s how important that land is to me. It’s my life. It’s my life, and it was taken from us,” said Houston.

Gladys Bentley (stage name, Bobbie Minton) was a Harlem Renaissance blues singer and cross dresser. She was one of the most well-known and financially successful black women in the United States in the 1920s and 1930s. She was a pioneer in pushing the envelope of gender, sexuality, class, and race with parody and exaggeration, personally and professionally.

On June 11th, 2023, Seattle Storm and basketball legend Sue Bird put the final period on the basketball chapter of her life. Bird’s iconic #10 jersey was raised to the rafters of Climate Pledge Arena, in front of a crowd of 15k strong following the Storm’s loss to the Washington Mystics.

On an emotional day ahead of Sue Bird’s jersey retirement ceremony, the Seattle Storm nearly completed a historic comeback to beat the Washington Mystics, but simply ran out of time. Seattle didn’t have much of anything going on in the first half, but a strong effort on both sides of the ball helped them get within three points. This is Bel Garcia’s recap.

Following last night’s loss to the Portland Thorns, the OL Reign got back to business with a 2-1 victory over the KC Current. Fullback Sofia Huerta was a contributor on both of the clubs goals in the victory, from a goal to begin the match to an assist on Jordyn Huitema’s late header goal.

The Seattle Storm continue to drop close games, failing to close the gap late against the Washington Mystics in the first of two games that the teams will play this weekend.
