Central District Food Co-op Delivers Free, Culturally Relevant Groceries to Local Residents

On the first Saturday of every month in Seattle's Central District, Made Space Seattle hosts the Central District Food Co-op, providing local residents with free, culturally relevant groceries and fresh produce. Partnering with grassroots organizations like Nurturing Roots Farm, the initiative supplies harvested vegetables, seasoning blends, and essential food items to help relieve monthly household grocery expenses for community members.

Beyond addressing food security, the Co-op aims to destigmatize alternative food resources and foster a warm, welcoming environment where neighbors can connect, according to Made Space Seattle owner and founder Stephanie Morales. Organizers, volunteers, and long-time residents gather on the first Saturday of each month, creating a community space that celebrates the neighborhood's rich heritage while ensuring access to healthy food.

The next Central District Food Co-op is happening Saturday, November 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Made Space Seattle, 2002 E Union St, Seattle. RSVP today at madespaceseattle.com
