Het Heru Healing Conference Brings Ancestral Dance to the Pacific Northwest

“The Day With Trae” host Trae Holiday participated in the first-ever Het Heru Healing Conference in 2023, an event that brought spiritual leaders and healers to the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute in Seattle. The conference introduced the ancient practice of the Het Heru Healing Dance to the Pacific Northwest for the first time, a debut which Holiday described as a source of excitement for the hosting community.

Led by Queen Mother Maasht Amen, the event's central focus was the exploration of the divine feminine energy, encouraging attendees to move into a deeper understanding of this force and learn how to tap into it within the local region. Shekhemt Hetep Hetep also helped lead the dance, noting that they are working to spread the practice throughout the diaspora.

Holiday emphasized the need for this form of healing, particularly within the Black community. She noted that communities of color often bear the brunt of disparities and environmental factors that lead to poor health outcomes.

"This is an important time for us to reclaim our health,” she said.
