Reign of Style: Seattle Hair Community Converges for Artistry and Innovation
The Seattle hair community recently converged for an energetic display of artistry and innovation at the 12th Annual Reign of Style Hair Show & Competition. The event, held at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, was established to provide a platform for creative professionals in the beauty industry.
"Hair stylists, we love the opportunity to be able to show our creative side. We don't get to do that every day,” Producer of the event and Life’s Salon owner Aisha Ellis Asim said.
Host of the event Trae Holiday described Reign of Style as an incredible showcase of talent and a chance to connect with the local creative community, noting its deep roots in heritage that celebrate art forms integral to Black culture. Among the local vendors present was Autumm Coles, co-owner of Zara Joe Beauty Supply, who described the scene as “thriving” and “hungry” for opportunity.
The supportive environment was clearly felt by first-time attendee and model Treivon Daniels, who won the "Best Face" makeup competition. "It felt good because there's a bunch of people who look like me here," Daniels said. “It just feels good being around people who are supporting you and who are like you."
