Seattle Pride Announces Deaunte Damper as Grand Marshal for 2026 Parade

There wasn’t a dry eye in the Black Media Matters Studio the moment the news broke. Watching our very own Deaunte Damper learn he’s been named a Grand Marshal for Seattle Pride 2026 is a moment we will never forget.

To Deaunte, this studio is a sacred space where we heal, build, and tell our stories. But to all of us at Converge Media, you are the heart of that story. Whether you’re championing Black and LGBTQIA2S+ voices on your show, We Live In Color, or advocating for justice and safety through the King County Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention, your impact is immeasurable.

You’ve served as the first-ever NAACP LGBTQ chair and were recognized as a Ryan White Community Champion for your tireless leadership. Seeing you brought to tears by this honor reminds us why we do this work: because representation and community matter.

The 2026 Pride theme is “Rally”—a call to gather in solidarity and action. Deaunte, you live that theme every single day. You show up with purpose, urgency, and a deep love that inspires everyone around you.

We are beyond proud of you, Deaunte. We’ve been through it all together, and there is no one we’d rather “Rally” behind than you. This isn’t just a title; it’s a testament to your soul and your service.

Seattle, get ready to march with us on June 28th. We are so honored to have this leader at the front of the line.

We love you, Deaunte!
