ONE SEATTLE Presents: Juneteenth “THE SONGS OF BLACK FOLK” Music of Resistance & Hope
This Concert will expose the audience to the Negro Spirituals and the diverse musical traditions that they have spawned including, Gospel, jazz, R&B, and even Hip-Hop. The Conductors will guide a journey through a musical culture that has functioned as a tool of resistance and as a source of hope for a Black people who have endured four centuries of white supremacy and its unrelenting assault on Black lives and Black bodies. The intent of this Concert is to use music to connect the African American struggle for freedom and justice with the struggles of other Americans who have had to fight their way in from the margins of our society.

Storm cap off their homestand with a win against Atlanta
The Seattle Storm ended their 8-game homestand with a 72-60 victory over the Atlanta Dream. Seattle was able to hold on to a late lead and close out the young surging Atlanta team.

The Seattle Storm would fall to the Connecticut Sun, 93-86, thanks to a 4th quarter comeback. The Storm fall to 5-5 on the season.

The Seattle Storm fell to the Dallas Wings, 68-51, as Dallas kept their foot on the gas all game. Seattle's bench scored 2 points.

Support and participate in the work of a tree crew. Climb trees of varying heights using rope, saddles, spurs, ladders, or aerial hydraulic lifts to safely prune or remove trees. Fell trees and salvage fallen timber. Respond to emergency calls to remove damaged sections or entire trees. Maintain, inspect, and operate a variety of equipment such as hydraulic aerial lift trucks, hand and power saws, compressors, wood chippers, winches, blowers, stump cutters, and other field equipment. Plant, water, and prune young trees. Spray or inject trees with pesticides. One year of experience is required.
Black and PoC youth step into the spotlight for Seattle Theatre Group’s ELEVATE
Art might not be able to combat systemic racism overnight. But organizers behind ELEVATE—Seattle Theatre Group’s spoken-word poetry showcase—are hoping that art can empower Black and Brown youth navigating oppression everyday. Coming up in June, ELEVATE returns to the Moore Theatre for the second year in a row—and for the first time as an in-person performance due to the pandemic. In Case You Missed It: Black Wall Street, 2022
