In a monumental step toward supporting and honoring Black baseball, the Seattle Mariners donated their first wave of funding from the Steelheads Community Fund. This inaugural investment contributed over $100,000 through two groundbreaking grants awarded to Baseball & Softball Beyond Borders and the Black Heritage Society of Washington State.

Baseball fans and Black Seattleites have a unique opportunity to honor local history and support great causes this summer. On Sunday, August 23, T-Mobile Park will host African American Heritage Day during the matchup between the Seattle Mariners and the Chicago Cubs at 1:10 p.m.

If you’ve ever walked past the corner of Dave Niehaus Way and Royal Brougham in the SODO District of Seattle, you’ve felt the energy radiating from Steelheads Alley. It’s a space designed in the spirit of Black exceptionalism.

It’s been one week since the Steelheads returned to T-Mobile Park for the Seattle Mariners’ first Steelheads Sunday of the season. While the Mariners celebrated their first Steelhead Sunday of the season, Seattle Central Little League kicked things off with an opening day jamboree at Judkins Park and Playfield. The event brought together coaches, families, and young athletes for a vibrant parade and celebration of the game.
