The Black Media Matter Studio was full of brotherly love when Seattle rapper and multi-faceted artist Vic Daggs II joined his long-time friend Curtis Delgardo II on Almost The Weekend! last week. The pair dove into Daggs’ motivation behind his artistry in music, audio engineering, and fashion design, and his focus on capturing authentic moments of creative excellence.

The Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute is transforming into a sacred space for Black imagination on Sunday, November 30. Former NFL star-turned-creative visionary, Martellus Bennett, aka MR. TOMONOSHi, is bringing his electrifying show, "Slices of Black American Life," right here to Seattle’s Central District.

Elizah Lourdes Rendorio, a senior in the University of Washington’s (UW) journalism and public interest communications program, has been making a significant impact during her internship at Converge. During a recent interview on The Day With Trae with guest host Omari Salisbury, Rendorio shared insights into her work, motivations behind her journalistic endeavors, and the rewarding experience of focusing on community-centric journalism.

Besa Gordon joined Good Day Seattle this morning for a Support Black Business uplift of Zara Jo Beauty Supply, a new beauty supply store in Seattle’s Central District owned by Jamal Wilson. After stopping by the storefront with Converge Media host Trae Holiday, Gordon shared that she left feeling joyful and represented. 

Seattle rapper and artist Mafi D recently joined host Curtis Delgardo II, aka Cuddy, on Almost The Weekend! for the first in-person edition of Artist Corner. Growing up in Seattle’s Central District, Mafi offered insights into his decade-long career, detailing the profound impact of his community-focused work and the collaborative energy behind his music.

Seattle Mayor-Elect Katie Wilson has announced the key personnel who will lead her transition into office. The team is composed of local leaders with experience in government, business, labor, housing, and community development, with the stated goal of preparing the new administration for success upon taking office.

The news hit us at Converge Media like a gut punch: Mattice Hoyt, the resilient and utterly inspiring "unofficial mayor of Tacoma," has left us. At just 39 years old, Mattice’s passing leaves a hole in the heart of Tacoma and in the hearts of all of us who had the privilege of knowing her. We are heartbroken, but we also find ourselves reflecting on the profound impact she had, not just on her community, but on each of us at Converge Media, Besa Gordon, and the entire Back2Besa family.
